Queen's Gold HoneyTM - We Love Honey
Our Honey
Our Honey is 100% Natural from nectar the bees gather in Southern Mecklenburg County North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina.
  • In search of nector, pollen, and water honey bees can fly up to 6 miles (9.6km) from the hive at 15 mph with their wings beating 11,400 times per minute!
  • A foraging honey bee visits 50 to 100 flowers during a collection trip.
  •  Honey bees use the sun for direction.
  • Returning foragers do a waggle dance inside the hive in a circle or figure eight pattern to show the other bees in which direction, and how far to fly.

  • 12 bees will work their entire lifetime (5-6 weeks) to make a teaspoon of honey.
  • Beekeepers only take a portion of the honey from the hive. We leave the rest for the bees.
  • Honey bees are reluctant to sting and only if they feel threatened - unlike hornets or wasps such as yellow jackets.
  • Bees and other pollenators are responsible for 1/3 of all the food we eat!
About
We are a small hobby operation - at this time we produce honey for ourselves and as gifts for our friends and for charities as well.

Our name reflects the fact that Charlotte is known as the "Queen City", for this region's early gold rush - the first in the nation in 1799, and for the minting of gold coinage nearby at the Charlotte Mint. Which ties in with the Queen Bee's importance to the hive and the golden color of honey.

Note: Anyone younger than 1 year old  should not be given honey
